Guide
What to plan at each stage of a new build or renovation, and why earlier is better and less expensive.
The short answer: during design, before construction drawings are final. The earlier we're involved, the more the technology disappears into the architecture, and the less it costs to get right.
This is when the important decisions are cheap: where keypads go on each elevation, where the equipment rack lives and how it's cooled, which windows get motorized shades and how deep the shade pockets need to be, and where TVs and speakers sit relative to furniture and art. We review drawings with your architect and designer and provide technology plans and device layouts for the set.
Confirm shade pockets and blocking, recessed TV niches, speaker locations and conduit paths. Changes here are still inexpensive.
After framing and before insulation and drywall, we run low-voltage wiring for every device in the plan, coordinated with your electrician and the rest of the trades on site.
Keypads, speakers, shades, TVs and equipment go in as finishes are completed. Then we program every scene and test the whole system.
We walk you through the system in person and stay on call. See how we support our clients.
We work inside your schedule and drawings, document clearly for your trades, and give you one point of contact from pre-wire to handoff. More on working with us.
Ideally during design, before construction drawings are final. That's when keypad locations, equipment space, shade pockets and wiring can be planned into the architecture at little cost.
Late changes usually mean visible equipment, compromised keypad placement, surface-mounted shade hardware, or opening finished walls, all of which cost more and look worse.
